Colette Deréal

Here are two great standards, sung by the wonderful Colette Deréal. The first song, "J'ai le mal de toi", became famous in English under the titles "The Way of Love" and "It's Impossible" (many versions by Perry Como, Elvis Presley, Shirley Bassey, Vikki Carr), the second song being the French version of the famous song "Danke schoen" (sung, among others, by Wayne Newton or Connie Francis).
Colette Deréal, born Colette Denise de Glarélial (1927 - 1988), was a great French actress and singer.
At fifteen years old, gifted with a beautiful coloratura voice, she was introduced to the great master Reynaldo Hahn, who believed in her. But instead she became an actress, playing in 24 movies, in France and Hollywood, including "Little Boy Lost" with Bing Crosby (1953), "Success Train", an episode of the TV series "Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Presents" (1955) and "The Happy Road" by and with Gene Kelly (1957). In France she played namely with Jean Gabin, who really appreciated her as a partner.
As a singer, she had a huge success (she has made 260 songs). This glamorous personality was also a painter and a great animal lover. She retired in Monaco, and was a good friend of Grace Kelly. Her natural joy, her wonderful voice, her charisma, her smile and beauty made her a complete artist.
Enjoy Colette Deréal's charm and talent!

And here is an adaptation of a classic Mozart piece, Les quatre saisons ("The four seasons") (1971).

Three other songs: the French versions of I (who have nothing) and What kind of fool am I...

and a great song, Je serai là ("I will be there").
